Welcome to Year Two!

Please check back regularly to see new photos, ideas for learning at home and updates.

Maths at home

Read and write numbers to at least 100 in numerals and in words.

Count in steps of 2,3,5 from 0 and in tens from any number, forwards and backwards.

Recognise odd and even numbers.

Compare and order numbers from 0-100.

Recall addition and subtraction facts to 20 fluently.

Know the number of minutes in a hour and the number of hours in a day.

Reading Books

The children change their own reading books, daily, at the start of the school day. We will be reminding the children how to do this, but please remind your child as they come into school each day.

  • Children should read at home every day. Please comment in their reading diary.
  • Bookbags need to be brought into school everyday.

Children will be given weekly Numeracy and Literacy homework, it is important your child attempts this homework to identify any misconceptions and keep learning fresh in their minds. Please talk to Miss Lines if your need information on how to support your child with their homework. Maths homework is now done online on MyMaths.

Water Bottles

  • Please change your child's water bottle daily and ensure it is clearly named. Please ensure they are taken home regularly to be washed.

  • PE is on Tuesday and Friday. Please ensure your child has a full PE kit in school at all times. No earrings should be worn on either day.
  • Girls with long hair (past their shoulders) must have it tied up at all times, not just for PE days.

  • We do not give out children's party invitations. Please do this discreetly after school.
  • We are a healthy school so if you would like to celebrate your child's birthday at school, we would encourage you to donate a book to the class. If you do hand out sweets, please remember that we do not do this in class so you will need to do this after school.

Class Bear

Every Friday a different child will have the opportunity of taking home their class bear home and documenting their adventures. It is great for children to share pictures and their writing with their class the following week. Please help your child to write a diary entry for each day they spent with the bear. Please ensure both the bear and the book are taken care of and returned on Monday, so not to ruin the experience for others or disrupt others from taking the bear home on Friday.
