Homework Numeracy

How you can help your child at home.

Help them to:

Read and write numbers to at least 100 in numerals and in words.

Count in steps of 2,3,5 from 0 and in tens from any number, forwards and backwards.

Recognise odd and even numbers.

Compare and order numbers from 0-100.

Recall addition and subtraction facts to 20 fluently.

Know the number of minutes in a hour and the number of hours in a day.

Times Table Mountain

In Year Two we continue to work on the stepping stones that we learned in Year One. Please ensure your child can still recall number bonds to 10 and 20

e.g. 7+3,  12+8

Children are encouraged to learn their 2, 5 and 10 times tables in Year Two in order to achieve their first 'Times Table award badge'. Please practise saying times tables in order e.g. 1x2=2, 2x2=4, 3x2=6

Once they know these times tables, children in Year Two should also practise counting in threes and fours.  Please practise counting and saying these numbers at home:

Threes: 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 21, 24, 27, 30, 33, 36

Fours: 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24, 28, 32, 36, 40, 44, 48
