Year 6 Junior Citizenship Day
At Castle Hill during Autumn term, year 6 pupils attend the Junior Citizens experience. As part of their transition from Year 6 to Year 7, they learn the knowledge and skills they need to cope with everyday life as they grow into adulthood. They learn what to do in an emergency and how to deal with potential risks.
As part of the programme, there are a number of demonstrations from Police, Health and Transport services. To help pupils think about potential dangers they may face when taking public transport to school as they get older, Transport for London use a bus and a rail scenario to demonstrate different safety aspects. The experience gives pupils opportunities to explore and consider their actions, the actions of others and consequences in a safe environment.
