SEND Information
SEND (Special Educational Needs and/or Disability)
Welcome to the SEND section of the school website. On this page, you will find information related to SEND.
Our named SENCO is Mrs L Gibbons and our Inclusion Manager is Mrs D Johnson.
Castle Hill Primary School is an inclusive school which aims to provide a broad and balanced curriculum as well as a learning environment with an atmosphere of motivation, inclusion, respect and pride in all achievements and sensitivity to individual needs of each pupil. We aim to meet the needs of all individuals and groups of pupils.
What are Special Educational and/or Disability Needs (SEND)?
Special Educational Needs and/or Disability (SEND) is a legal term. It describes the needs of a child who has difficulty and/or a disability which makes learning harder for them than for other children their age.
Around one in five children has SEND at some point during their school years. Some children have SEND right through their time in school.
SEND covers a broad spectrum of difficulty and/or disability. Children may have wide-ranging or specific problems e.g., a child might have difficulty with one area of learning, such as letters or numbers. Or they might have problems relating to other children, or to adults.
If you are concerned that your child has special educational needs, we are keen for you to share your concerns with the class teacher. If we identify difficulties, we will discuss them with you as soon as possible so that we can act together.
Local Offer
As part of the changes within the Children and Families Bill, local authorities are required to develop a ‘Local Offer’, which provides information for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and their parents/carers in a single place, in order that they can easily access and understand the services that may be available.
