Raising Concerns & Resolving Complaints
From time to time parents, and others connected with the school, may have concerns. To encourage resolution of such situations the Governing Body has adopted a 'General Complaints Procedure'.
The procedure is devised with the intention that it will:
- Usually be possible to resolve problems by informal means.
- Be simple to use and understand.
- Be non-adversarial.
- Provide confidentiality.
- Allow problems to be handled swiftly.
- Address all the points at issue.
- Inform future practice so that the problem is unlikely to recur.
Full details of the procedure may be obtained from the School Office or from the Clerk to the Governing Body.
Back to listBehaviour and Discipline - summary.
The school has a behaviour and discipline policy that is followed by all staff.
School rules are positive and are straight forward for the children to remember. Children are encouraged to show care and consideration towards others and to develop self discipline and make the right choices. We find that high standards of behaviour contribute to effective learning. Good behaviour and effort is rewarded with weekly 'Golden Time', 'Merit Awards' and 'Cool Awards' (for kindness and consideration towards others) and 'Learning to be Clever Awards' in KS1 and KS2. The School runs a 'house-point' system at KS2 to provide challenge and competition. The houses are named after castles: Windsor (colour - red), Dover (colour - blue), Arundel (colour - green) and Hever (colour - yellow).
Parents are informed of the code of conduct when their child joins the school and are asked to sign a home/school agreement. Parental co-operation is very much valued.
Parents are contacted if their child persistently misbehaves and arrangements are drawn up so that parents and school can work together to improve behaviour.
The children are asked to remember:
Golden Rules
We are considerate. ––– We do not hurt anybody.
We are kind and helpful. ––– We do not hurt the feelings of others.
We work hard. ––– We do not waste our own or others time.
We look after our property. ––– We do not waste or damage things.
We listen to people. ––– We do not interrupt.
We are honest. ––– We do not cover up the truth.
Charging and Remission Policy
The Governors have adopted the Local Authority's charging and remission policy. They have agreed to authorise the Headteacher to seek payment for breakages etc., in conjunction with the school's code of discipline.
Contributions are requested from parents to cover class visits or special events, but are voluntary.
There is a voluntary school fund to which parents are asked to contribute. This is used to provide additional resources for the curriculum such as books. The guidelines are £20 for each child or £30 for a family for each school year. Click on the link below to see the letter.
